The Honorable Ronald R. Johnson is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1972 and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Southern University in 1977. In 1984 he earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center, graduating with the distinction of Cum Laude.
Judge R. Johnson has been steadfastly committed to the practice of law for over 36 years. During that time he has handled hundreds of criminal and civil cases as a private practice attorney and has served the State of Louisiana as an Assistant Attorney General. Judge Johnson was elected to the 19th Judicial District Court and commits his tenue as a Judge December 16, 2019. He serves with his twin brother Chief Donald R. Johnson and daughter Judge Eboni Johnson-Rose. Judge Johnson currently presides over Civil, Criminal, and, Veterans Treatment court dockets.
The Judge has made a point to give back to the Baton Rouge community. He served as a member of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board from 1989 until 1995 and as a representative on The East Baton Rouge Recreation and Parks Commission from 1989 until 1992. He is Assistant Pastor at The Greater Sixty Aid B.C. Judge Johnson also serves as an adjunct professor at Southern University Law Center.
Judge Johnson is married to the lovely Andrea F. Johnson. They have five children and four grandchildren.

Please coordinate with all parties in setting discovery deadlines by filling up the Case Management Scheduling Order – Long Form. Please notify Section 21 Law Clerk, Chelsea Zachary: cgarin@19thjdc.org if you are unable to obtain cooperation from opposing counsel your matter will be scheduled for a status conference to obtain reasonable deadlines.
One copy of a case management scheduling order (CMSO) must be signed by all parties and filed into the clerk of court. All CMSO filled up in a conference with the Court has to be signed the same date as the conference to secure the dates and deadlines given.
Trial dates will be assigned at a pretrial conference. Pretrial conference dates will be given after a joint pretrial order has been filed. Trial dates will not be provided unless a proper request for a pretrial conference has been submitted. Please refer to the Louisiana District Court Rules for the 19th JDC.
