Wilson Fields was born November 27, 1968, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Mrs. Alice Fields Thomas and the late Isadore Fields. He has two sons, Wilson Eric Fields and Wesley Earl Fields. Judge Fields is a 1986 graduate of Capitol Senior High School.
Upon graduating from Capitol, Judge Fields attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. While attending Southern University, he was on the Dean’s List and represented the University in various capacities. During his senior year at Southern University, Judge Fields served as President of the Student Government Association (SGA) while simultaneously serving as the student member on the Louisiana Board of Regents.
Judge Fields is a member of the Greater New Guide Baptist Church, Reverend Isaiah Webster – Pastor and is a Life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Judge Fields was elected to the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council at the age of 23, and became the youngest to ever serve as a Metro Council member in East Baton Rouge Parish history. In just 8 short months, he was elected as Chairman of the Capital Improvements Committee. Approximately one year later, his colleagues elected him to chair the Finance and Executive Committee. In the November 1994 issue of Ebony Magazine, he was featured among the 30 Most Influential Young Black Leaders of America. On November 18, 1995, at the age of 26, Judge Fields was elected to serve as Louisiana State Senator District – 15, and was the youngest State Senator serving in the Louisiana Legislature. On October 23, 1999, he was elected to a second term as a State Senator because of his commitment and dedication to the constituents of his district.
Not only was Judge Fields committed to serving the citizens of Senate District 15 and the State Louisiana as a legislator, he was also committed to serving the State of Louisiana as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) Officer in the Louisiana Army National Guard.
Judge Fields received his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in May, 1994 and his Master of Law Degree from Tulane Law School in May, 2003.
In October 2001, Judge Wilson Fields was elected Judge for Division O of the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish.
